Joan Jackson

Beginning her political activities in the mid-1950s, Joan Jackson has been a frequent Republican state convention delegate in Indiana, Wisconsin, and Michigan; a Nixon Delegate in 1972 and Reagan Delegate-at-Large in1980, serving on the Platform Committee.

Rising from a block worker to elected precinct committeeman, Joan served as Vice Chairman of the second largest county in Wisconsin and First Vice Chairman of the Republican Party of Wisconsin. Joan joined the National Federation of Republican Women’s Board and Executive Committee in the mid-1970s; and served as President of the Wisconsin Federation of Republican Women.

Professionally, Joan has worked in the executive and legislative branches of government, both at the state and national level – as Administrative Secretary for State Assemblyman Tommy Thompson (Assistant Minority Leader – later Governor); Special Assistant to WI State Superintendent of Public Instruction; Regional Representative for U.S. Secretary of Transportation in Region V (MN, WI, IL, IN, MI, & OH), a Reagan appointment; and Legislative Assistant to a Member of Congress.

Following the 1964 Goldwater loss, Joan pledged that she would work in the GOP and every campaign to improve her political skills – in preparation to elect Ronald Reagan President in the future. Sixteen years later, she celebrated her goal. In 2007 she served as Michigan’s State Team Leader for former House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s American Solutions and is co-founder and president of the Michigan Excellence in Public Service Series.
