Long Beach Republican Women Federated started 2015 fast and furious. We upgraded our location, and we have had excellent speakers and programs.
The quality of our speakers is our number one reason for getting new members (as of late May, the club had 47 new members for the calendar year). Our January speaker was newly-elected state Sen. Janet Nguyen, who broke the Democrat supermajority in Sacramento. For our annual membership event in May, more than 120 people attended to hear speaker Star Parker.
We try to involve young Republicans whenever possible, and we also work to recruit men as associate members. June was “Men’s Month,” and our speaker was an ex-CIA agent and retired intelligence officer from the Marine Corps who addressed counterterrorism intelligence operations.
In an effort to increase renewals in 2016, we hosted two membership events this year, one of which featured CFRW President Roseann Slonsky-Breault.
Technology plays a big role in our club outreach efforts. We have an active Facebook page, our website is up to date, and we use Mail Chimp to distribute our newsletters and other information to members. All three are interconnected and can be accessed with the click of a button.
