Oklahoma City Republican Women’s Club recently celebrated its 95th anniversary. The club's history was recognized and past presidents were honored, including Carolyn Demaree who joined in 1947.
We are a club of active and involved members who volunteer for campaigns, man GOP booths at cultural festivals and the state fair, and work at the Habitat for Humanity Women's Build, as well as support the Hugs Project and Suited for Success. In 2014, the club received the Volunteer of the Year Award from the Oklahoma County Republican Party.
During election years, candidate forums are held for those running for local, state and federal offices. Club members attend the Oklahoma FRW-sponsored Legislative Day at the Capitol each year to hear state leaders report on legislation and to visit with state legislators.
The Oklahoma Attorney General, Corporation Commissioner, School Superintendent and House Speaker, as well as Oklahoma City Mayor, have presented informative programs on current issues. Members and associate members have been elected to office from the precinct level to Governor, as well as to positions in the state and county party, including Pam Pollard, chairman of the Oklahoma Republican Party. In addition, member Estela Hernandez has been recognized by the Republican National Committee as a GOP Rising Star.
We are indeed a club of movers and shakers!
- Jan Bradstreet, President
