With more than 70 members, Nacogdoches County Republican Women holds a monthly luncheon meeting with programs that are relevant, exciting, and motivational. We track Texas House and Senate bills and provide legislative reporting which includes activity by our membership.
At the yearly Blueberry Festival and at the Piney Woods Fair, we distribute leaflets with our list of conservative values, encouraging those who agree to join. We "Care for America" by collecting and donating food twice a year to a local food bank, take "Cookies to Cops" twice a year, award a $500 scholarship to a deserving county graduating senior who submits an essay and is vetted by our committee, and donate patriotic books to the public library.
In November, we participate in our veterans parade. We invite veterans to a free meal at our banquet, and give them a flag pen and a certificate from a representative. At Christmas, we fill and mail patriotic embroidered pillowcases, which are signed by the public at our festivals, to a local service person who is serving overseas. We also host a bring-a-friend Christmas social and always get new members.
We won a membership award from Texas Speaker Joe Straus for increasing our membership by 51 percent in 2014.
Everyone does something and because of that, we continue to be successful. Like us on Facebook!
