A total of 38 attended, including the Secretary of State of Nevada and seven candidates from five states, even as far away as upstate New York.
The day was filled with information and directions for either campaigning or working with campaigns. The pace was rapid; the information was thorough. There was so much to cover our heads were spinning when it was all over.
We learned the importance of messaging, the value of analysis and knowing how to target your efforts, how to find swing voters, the value of social media, how to talk to the press, the art of fundraising, the difference between campaign managers and campaign consultants, and, among everything else, how to work smarter not harder.
And there was still more. I now realize the importance of hiring the right campaign manager and the value of being a team player. A professional campaign manager is worth their weight in gold.
We all walked out of the training feeling that it was time well spent, that we would attend the class again, and that it was a hugely valuable experience.
