NFRW Caring for America Committee
The NFRW Caring for America Committee touches America through each kind act - small and large - at a time. The list of possible projects is endless, and each circumstance needs our caring.
ONE PILLOW AT A TIME!
The Caring for America Committee recently adopted the Pillow Project that sends One Touch Snuggle Pillows for encouragement and comfort to individuals, organizations, and shelters from a non-profit organization working with NFRW.
Karyn of Long Island, NY, is 59 and single, retired with no family. She hardly missed local Federation meetings until she was diagnosed with cancer. She disappeared without letting anyone know why. Alone, Karyn faced treatments and the weeks in between with courage and fear, optimism and dread and a host of other emotions. Then she opened up to a Federation friend who happens to be associated with NFRW Caring for America.
A One Touch Snuggle Pillow was sent to Karyn as a gentle surprise, and the timing of its arrival could not have been better. Complications had left Karyn in the hospital, and when she returned home, she found a package at her doorstep. Opening it, she saw her name inscribed on a sage green pillow case. Karyn cried and laughed and hugged her pillow all night long. NFRW Caring for America touched Karyn.
ONE CLOSET AT A TIME!
Susan is a single mother seeking employment. However, she didn’t have the resources to purchase interview clothes or receive job training. Now she does. A thrift store in Stockton, CA, offers good clothes to women like Susan and uses profits from everything sold there to provide needed job training. There is hope for the “Susans” of our communities. Federated clubs, clean your closets and donate to caring centers like the one in Stockton, and touch another Susan’s life. Oh, Susan is a new member of the Federation.
ONE CLASSROOM AT A TIME!
For Florida’s Lakeland RWC, springtime means focusing on education from awarding scholarships to providing thousands of volunteer hours working with local students of all ages. LRWC also asks college teachers for a wish list of teaching tools needed in their classrooms. These Federated women donate up to $500 per request to enable teachers to provide the education we all want for our students – the future of our country.
ONE STREET AT A TIME!
It’s a clean sweep for California’s Paso Robles Republican Women Federated's ongoing community outreach project. Members get "down and dirty" by cleaning up trash and raking leaves through the Paso Robles Adopt-a-Street program. Our Federation is the heart of a grateful community.
