National Federation of Republican Women
Presents Reagan Award to Kansas GOP Leader
State Federation President Receives Honor at National Convention
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) presented the 2013 Ronald Reagan Leadership Award to Kansas Republican leader Becky Johnson during its 37th biennial convention in Louisville, Ky.
A resident of Parker and president of the Kansas Federation of Republican Women (KFRW), Johnson received the award at a luncheon on Sept. 22. The award was established by the NFRW in 2005 to recognize the outstanding leadership of one state president and is presented every two years at the biennial convention.
Johnson and four other state presidents were selected as finalists based on overall leadership and initiation of new programs, increases in membership, participation in national programs, and excellence in public relations and campaign efforts.
Active in Republican politics since 1968, Johnson has served in numerous offices at the local, state and national levels of the Federation. She has worked on many campaigns, including Lynn Jenkins for Congress and Bill Graves for Governor. She served as Linn County chair for George W. Bush and is Kansas director of Maggie's List. She also serves on the Kansas Republican Party Executive Committee and on the Board of Governors of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Excellence in Public Service Series, of which she was a member of the 2006 inaugural class. She has been a partner in MAE Resources since 2006. She and her husband, Terry Johnson, have two children and two grandchildren.
Founded in 1938, the NFRW has thousands of
active members in local clubs across the nation and in several
U.S. territories, making it one of the largest women’s political
organizations in the country. The grassroots organization works
to promote the principles and objectives of the Republican
Party, elect Republican candidates, inform the public through
political education and activity, and increase the effectiveness
of women in the cause of good government.
