Argiro Morgan is the wife of Robert Morgan, and the mother of four
sons. She is a graduate of LSU, where she was vice president of the
student body, a member of Mortar Board, valedictorian of her class,
and one of the first women in the United States to win a Woodrow
Wilson Graduate Fellowship.
Argiro earned a bachelor’s degree in English, a master’s degree in
applied linguistics, an M.A.T in theology, and a Ph.D. in curriculum
and instruction. Upon her early retirement as a tenured full
professor, she became an energetic Republican activist, serving as
president of one of the largest clubs in the Louisiana Federation.
Argiro has had years of campaign experience. She was the W. St.
Tammany volunteer chair for President George W. Bush in 2000 and for
the 2004 campaign of Sen. David Vitter, who carried her parish with
75.7 percent of the vote. She was an avid worker for Gov. Bobby
Jindal and other Republican candidates.
Elected in 2004 as LFRW’s executive vice president, Argiro served as
legislative and literacy chairs. Under her leadership, LFRW gave
more than 6,500 books to school children and initiated the Award for
Teaching Excellence in American History.
Five years ago, she was appointed to the NFRW Board of Directors,
serving on the Leadership, Fundraising and Speaker’s Bureau
committees.
Argiro is President of the St. Tammany Parish Library Board and was
appointed by the governor to the Louisiana State Library Board. She
is a founding member of Support Our War Heroes, a 501-C3
organization which aids seriously-wounded soldiers of the Iraq and
Afghanistan wars. Argiro has been a volunteer for numerous other
charitable and civic organizations and is active in her church.
She considers it a unique honor to serve as president of the
Louisiana Federation of Republican Women. Her motto is, “Every Woman
a Leader - Every Club a Pathfinder!”

The Louisiana Federation was organized and became affiliated with
the NFRW in 1953. Strengthening membership and recruiting new
members are always top priorities. Today, LFRW is divided into 7
regions with 38 clubs.
Over the years, clubs have established effective grassroots
organizations dedicated to recruiting and electing qualified
Republican candidates. Members take an active role in campaigns at
all levels and have developed innovative fundraising ideas to
support community service projects and to provide special needs for
our troops. LFRW is committed to education through club scholarships
and the LFRW Ginny Martinez Scholarship. Members support the "No
Child Left Behind" program with an annual "My Favorite Teacher"
award to an outstanding educator.
Though many challenges lie ahead as Louisiana continues to recover
from the hurricanes, LFRW members are up to the task. We firmly
believe "Republican Women Make A Difference." We have committed
ourselves to taking an active lobbying role in our state's
legislative process by staying in close communication with all of
our elected officials and weighing in on the critical decisions that
will determine the future of our state.
LFRW is proud of the role we played in "painting our state red" for
George W. Bush; in electing David Vitter, our first Republican
senator since Reconstruction; and, for the role we will play as
Louisiana moves forward!
