PRESIDENT'S BIOGRAPHY

Alyssa is married to Dr. Paul Farmer, D.V.M. They own and operate Animal Medical Clinic located in Brandon, MS. They have two children: Brayden and Alexis “Ally.” Alyssa is a 1992 graduate of Mississippi State University with a Business Administration degree.

Alyssa has served the Mississippi FRW as Chairman of the “No Child Left Behind” and “My Favorite Teacher” programs from 2001-2003 and as 3rd Vice President from 2004-2006. She is a member of Rankin County Republican Women, where she served as Vice President in 2001, President in 2002 and 2003, and Treasurer in 2006.

Alyssa is a member of the Rankin County Republican Executive Committee and the Mississippi Republican Executive Committee. In 2004, she co-chaired Governor Haley Barbour’s inaugural ball and has been active in numerous local and statewide Republican campaigns. In 2006, she was appointed by Lt. Governor Amy Tuck to the Mississippi Commission on the Status of Women.

Alyssa is an active member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church. She served from 2004-2006 as the community member of the editorial board for statewide newspaper the Clarion Ledger. She is a member of the Rankin County School District Venture Program for parents of gifted children, where she served as Vice President 2003-2004 and President 2004-2005. As a member of Northshore Elementary PTO, she has served as Vice President and President. She is also active in Northwest Rankin Middle School PTO, where she serves on several committees.

FEDERATION HISTORY

The Mississippi Federation is organized into five districts and has 31 clubs. Member efforts are geared toward electing Republican candidates and educating voters. Legislative Days are held annually. Members also staff booths at local events and work in all Republican campaigns. Clubs donate toys for needy children at Christmas and work to improve literacy through giving books to libraries around the state.
