Serves as Keynote Speaker at NFRW Spring Board Meeting

Second lady Karen Pence brought tales of Marlon Bundo, the Pence family bunny, to the National Federation of Republican Women's spring board luncheon.

As keynote speaker on March 29, Mrs. Pence read "Marlon Bundo's A Day in the Life of the Vice President," the book she and daughter Charlotte created about their beloved family pet.

Mrs. Pence described how Marlon Bundo, or BOTUS (Bunny of the United States), became a celebrity in his own right when the family moved to Washington D.C. after the 2016 election. "Marlon became this phenomenon," she said.

When Marlon began developing a following on social media, Charlotte decided it was time to take Marlon to a larger audience. Her idea was to write a book that educated the public about the vice presidency, and she asked her mother to create the illustrations. After the book's publication, the two embarked on a nationwide book tour, which Mrs. Pence called an "an amazing mother-daughter experience."

Part of the proceeds from the book go to promote art therapy, one of Mrs. Pence's initiatives, as well as to combat sex trafficking.

After sharing a few stories about what life is like as second lady, Mrs. Pence gave the audience a sneak preview of the next book in the Marlon Bundo series, "Marlon Bundy's A Day in the Nation's Capital," which will be released April 9. A Christmas book is also in the works.

Following her speech, Mrs. Pence signed copies of the book for attendees.
