In keeping with the NFRW theme of Republican Women Making RED Waves, we are excited that Virginia's wave-making Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears will address NFRW Legislative Day on Thursday, March 31.
A native of Kingston, Jamaica, who immigrated to the United States at the age of six and a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Winsome Sears won election in 2021 to become Virginia's first female Lieutenant Governor and the first Black female elected to statewide office. Winsome previously was elected in 2002 to a majority Black district in the House of Delegates - a first for a Republican in Virginia since 1865. Winsome has served as an appointee on the Virginia State Board of Education and as a presidential appointee to the U.S. Census Bureau. She is a member of Winchester-Frederick-Clarke Republican Women.
NFRW Legislative Day takes place in Alexandria, Virginia, just prior to the NFRW Spring Board of Directors Meeting. A packed agenda is planned, with training on lobbying and coalition building and a focus on two key NFRW legislative priorities - Election Integrity and a Parents Bill of Rights for Education.
All Federation members are welcome at Legislative Day.
