Club Sponsors Essay Contest With Patriotic Themes, Monetary Prizes
Idaho County Republican Women's Club sponsored an essay contest for school students in two age groups: 16-18 and 13-15.
Three topics were selected by club members:
- American Founding Fathers’ Divine Inspiration
- Ensuring Future Liberty of America
- Keeping the American Republic Strong
The winner of the 16-18 age group is Hannah Schwartz, a student at Prairie High School. She wrote, “The last of the God-given rights needed in order to ensure liberty is freedom. People who are free are allowed to live their lives according to their own beliefs and values, without interference by any authority or power. Liberty cannot exist without freedom. It is for this reason we must hold accountable those who seek to restrict our freedom.”
Carli Strasser, a homeschool student from Grangeville, wrote, “The founding of the United States was not just a political founding, it was a profound moment that intertwined divine inspiration with the pursuit of liberty and justice.”
Each winner received a check for $500 which was awarded at the meeting on November 11, 2024.
