Club Adds Sparkle to 'Gateway to the Sequoias' for Adopt-A-Highway Program
On the fourth Saturday of every month, dedicated Visalia Republican Women Federated volunteers awaken in the early morning hours to clean the first two miles of our city's highway shoulder on 198 east of Highway 99, heading toward the Sequoias.
It is important this section of roadway is kept clean as it is the motorist's first impression of beautiful Visalia and the south valley entrance to Sequoia National Park. As they say, "You only get one shot at making a first impression!"
Visalia RWF began its partnership with Caltrans in 2020. This year completes five consecutive years of active participation. Many Visalia RWF members have generously volunteered their weekend time to keep our section of Highway 198 in tip-top condition.
Volunteers on clean-up days always enjoy cheerful honks, grateful smiles and enthusiastic thumbs up from passing motorists while making this California roadway sparkle!
