At the January 16 luncheon meeting, Nevada County Republican Women Federated (California) welcomed the Rev. Dan Prout, who spoke on “When Cultures Collide.”
Dan began by referring to the 150-year-old Battle at Gettysburg -- a battle over values in which more than 50,000 lives were lost. He pointed out that cultures operate on different sets of values. We have a Western world view where we believe in treating others the way we want to be treated. However, this is not the case in all cultures.
He encouraged us to know where we stand and to be able to discuss the issues of the day and concluded by referring back to Gettysburg, challenging us to do our job as Republican Women to defend our Republic. “The blood of those who died 150 years ago cries out to us now so that they haven’t died in vain.”
