Honoring, Thanking County Law Enforcement
Santa Rosa Republican Women Federated, California, believe in and support our local law enforcement. To show our appreciation during National Police Week, May 12-18, members baked and delivered trays, boxes, and plates of cookies, brownies, fudge, biscotti, muffins, and scones to the offices of the police, sheriff, and highway patrol.
These men and women couldn't have been more surprised and pleased! We left our business card, thank you notes, and signs along with our goodies so they knew who we were. They took our gifts immediately back to their break or briefing rooms to share. Our president, Sandy Metzger, has received thank you notes, emails, and phone calls.
We all were rewarded with amazing smiles and expressions of thanks. One officer commented, "We didn't know there were this many Republicans in the county!" At a memorial service for fallen sheriff deputies, the county sheriff publicly thanked us for our goodies--which the audience then had the opportunity to share during the lunch following.
Our club accomplished several worthwhile goals along the way. We developed some recognition in the county. We worked together on a little bit of a different project. The men and women in law enforcement showed their appreciation for our gifts for them. And we felt so gratified with their positive responses. Our board decided that it's a project we ought to do at least annually.
