LCRW Hosts Thank You Dinner for Republican Women Legislators
Since the Montana Legislature is in session every other year, all the legislators have extremely busy timetables and schedules during their 90-day session in Montana’s capital city – Helena. During the 2021 session, it began with a bang when all of the main department heads elected were REPUBLICAN! We had a RED WAVE started from the Governor’s office and felt the movement coming, and the State of Montana also was RED for President Trump. As the days of the legislature are very long and intense, and this year the fact that we have 20 Republican women in the session – one in the Senate and 19 in the House – our club decided to have an ‘evening out’ to honor and thank the Republican Women Legislators! We hosted two different evenings for them with a good attendance from within the ranks of both the legislative body and our local Republican women’s club. Our first event was February 3, and six weeks later on March 24, we did a repeat because our invitation was so well-received, appreciated and FUN! Our menus were simple but provided home-cooked ‘comfort’ food with delectable desserts to follow. Our Kitchen Captains were the husbands of the President and the Membership Chair of our club so a variety of volunteers got involved. The thank-you cards received for the dinners-out were filled with gratitude for an opportunity to socialize, mix, meet, mingle and simply relax in a relaxed setting. We had a very brief 10-minute program within our window at the first dinner, and as a special thank-you at the second dinner, we presented each legislator with a red, white, and blue neck scarf which they gladly accepted and immediately added as an accessory. Our special guests included the First Lady, Susan Gianforte, and our Lieutenant Governor, Kristen Juras. The Lewis and Clark Republican Women were happy to share a special THANK YOU to the Republican Lady Legislators of Montana!
