Club Awards First Scholarship to Bright Young Woman
On May 10, 2021, the Santa Fe Federated Republican Women of New Mexico awarded a $1,000 scholarship to a bright young woman.
We knew it would be difficult to contact schools and high school students during COVID, but we were determined to support our young people despite the governor's actions.
We asked high school students around the county to respond to something in George Washington's farewell address. The essays received were thoughtful and well written. It renewed our faith in young people who could write about the beginning of our democracy and what it means to them today.
We will continue with our new scholarship program to meet and encourage more young people to consider our values.
