Club Collects Donations for Victims of Flash Flood
The tragic levy break in Gila Bend, Arizona, on August 14 caused major flooding throughout the town and the loss of three lives.
Early this week, Mesa Republican Women sent out a request at the direction of MRW Associate Member Matt Salmon, asking the club to join him and Legislative District 25 in collecting and delivering donations together with the Lion’s Club to provide relief to the citizens of Gila Bend. Club members came through in a BIG way and collected many supplies and over $6,100 in cash for their aid which included providing meals and housing for the 150 families displaced by the flood.
Matt and Nancy Salmon and team took the supplies/cash to Gila Bend on Tuesday evening, and the Lion's Club was overjoyed and so grateful. Thank you to each of the Mesa Republican Women’s Club members and the Precinct Committeemen/women in LD25 who were willing to donate last minute and for responding so quickly.
