Club Hosts Garden Party Memorial and Fundraiser
Ponderosa Republican Women of Spokane County, Washington, gathered for the 2nd Annual Sharon Silzel Garden Party.
Sharon Silzel was a long time member of PRW after working at the White House in Washington DC. She worked hard to support Republican candidates, raise funds and keep the club going strong. In 2020 Sharon passed away and her husband, Jack Silzel is keeping her memory alive by sponsoring this annual garden party. It was held at Sharon’s granddaughter Alison Beck’s beautiful home and garden in south Spokane.
Alison’s husband and their six children helped with the decorations, set up tables and chairs and prepared all the food. About 95 people attended the event including Spokane Mayor Nadine Woodward, Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers and U.S. Senate candidate Tiffany Smiley.
The soothing sounds of guitarist Jonathan Nicholson provided a relaxing backdrop for conversation and enjoying the delicious salads, breads and cheesecake. A silent auction and wine pull helped the club raise funds for initiatives to strengthen its position in the community and state, furthering Republican principles and candidates.
Everyone had a lovely time and bonds of friendship were strengthened. Jack asked all the women to hold strong and keep fighting for what is right.
