Clubs Members are Proud to Be Republican Women
Montgomery County Republican Women of Clarksville, Tennessee, has been a very busy club. President Tina Englen has been meeting with her board every month, and they are accomplishing much!
We have worked toward informing our members about election candidates and issues, and are working toward achieving the NFRW's Club Achievement Diamond Award. We have directed our speakers, forums, and donations in line with the requirements to accomplish this award and, as in past years, will be exceeding the required number of points for that coveted award.
Our Montgomery County GOP Board and our candidates -- local, state and national -- credit the ladies of the Montgomery County Republican Women as instrumental in getting them elected. An especially great triumph for us locally was the election of newcomer Ben Dean, a Robertson County attorney, who defeated District 19 Chancellor Laurence McMillan of Clarksville, who was in that judicial seat for 17 years. Chancellor Dean presented the club with a potted plant; each and every lady present at the May 2 meeting received a gorgeous hanging basket of mixed flowers.
Club activities have included sponsoring judicial and local candidate forums, and attendance at the Tennessee Federation's Ladies’ Day on the Hill (pictured), state board meetings, and TFRW's Iris Fund and luncheons. We have also planned and implemented the yearly GOP Lincoln Reagan Day Dinner, staffing our local GOP headquarters with volunteers three times weekly, planning and implementing a “Baby Shower” for the HOPE Pregnancy Center, donating books to the library as part of the MELP program, collection of items needed for the Ft. Campbell Fisher House, and participation in Clean Up America Day. We are preparing to introduce our first annual Belmont Stakes Derby club fundraiser.
Our media outreach includes a monthly newsletter, which is published on our website, and our Facebook page keeps members and others in touch.
We are proud that several of our ladies have served with the Tennessee Federation of Republican Women, the County GOP Executive Committee and the State Executive Committee, the Montgomery County Election Commission, and in judicial positions and various county leadership positions.
