Club Awards Scholarships to Conservative Students

On April 25, Johnson County Republican Women of Texas awarded the Polly Guthrie Memorial Scholarship to three local high school seniors.

The award is named for long-time club member, Texas Federation of Republican Women District Director, and educator Polly Guthrie.

The recipients are Cate Heiner of Godley High School, who was awarded $1,500; Ethan Ford of Burleson Centennial High School, who was awarded $1,000; and, Bianca O'Bryant of Cleburne High School, who was awarded $1,000. These three completed a questionnaire, submitted their grades/transcripts, and wrote essays for consideration.

Attendees and scholarship recipients enjoyed a great presentation from "Pat" Patricia Hardy, State Board of Education Member, District 11. She enlightened those in attendance on the importance of school choice and how school choice and vouchers could impact public education in Texas.
