Club's Caring For America Project Helps Families Dealing with Cancer Diagnosis
Children's Cancer Network is a State of Arizona Qualified Charitable Organization that is committed to helping children and families dealing with the stressful and uncertain times that begin with the initial cancer diagnosis and often continue for years thereafter. The CCN Back-To-School/Adopt-A-Family program distributes backpacks and school supplies to families with childhood cancer fighters. CRW put together bags of healthy snacks to be handed out with the backpacks.
The CRW Community Service Committee gained the attention of members through direct email, Facebook, flyers and announcements at our monthly meetings. We asked for healthy snack donations or monetary donations that were used to buy snacks. The club coordinated with the CCN Program Director to assemble the snack bags at their facility in Chandler.
CRW members volunteered at the annual Back-To-School event by helping to serve breakfast burritos and at the craft tables while the children and their families enjoyed the morning before picking up their backpacks, supplies and the beautifully wrapped snack bags prepared and donated by the club.
Thanks to the generosity of the CRW club members who brought snacks or made donations at our May and June meetings, the club contributed to the well-being and quality of life of the families through shared values that are family-centered, that exhibit community, passion and caring, and that encourage healthy lifestyles.
