Club Celebrates 50th Anniversary
Northwest Forest Republican Women of Texas (NWFRW) celebrated its 50th anniversary June 10.
Club members have been active Republican volunteers since its organization in 1974. In addition to volunteering for individual candidates, the club had two members elected to the Texas House of Representatives and two members elected District Judges. Several have been President of Greater Houston Council of Federated Republican Women (GHCFRW) plus held other officer and committee positions. The organization had officers of the Texas Federation of Republican Women (TFRW) plus Deputy Presidents, District Directors, and Committee Chairmen. Several have been named to TFRW's Ten Outstanding Women. NWFRW also had a Committee Chairman and Committee members of National Federation Republican Women (NFRW).
Members have been elected as Senate District 7 Chairmen and served on the State Republican Executive Committee. NWFRW had members serve as Chairmen and/or members of Texas State Republican Convention Committees. Members have been elected Republican Party Precinct Chairmen and serve on the Harris County Republican Party Executive Committee and other Party committees.
Several who have moved to other cities and states have become active in Republican Women, even started Republican Women’s clubs if none were available in their new locations, some even going on to be active in those State Federations.
Northwest Forest Republican Women is now the largest club in the Texas State Federation.
