ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Ann Schockett, president of the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW), voiced support for President Donald J. Trump's decision to cancel the Jacksonville, Florida, portion of the Republican National Convention.
“President Trump is focused on leading the American people during this unprecedented crisis," President Schockett said. "This action again proves his strength and caring. Protecting Americans, including our health and safety, remains, as always, utmost on his mind."
An impressive number of NFRW members planned to attend the Jacksonville portion of the Republican National Convention serving as duly elected delegates and alternates, and also as guests and volunteers. The convention business will still be held in Charlotte, NC, as originally arranged. There, each state will be represented by six people: the State Republican Party Chair, the National Republican Committee Man and Woman, the Delegation State Chair and two members of the State’s Credentials Committee. “There will be NFRW members in Charlotte, participating in official convention business,” President Schockett explained.
“While we will not be in Jacksonville to celebrate the nomination of our great president, we fully support our President’s decision,” President Schockett said. “NFRW will work tirelessly to ensure President Trump and Vice President Pence are reelected to a second term,” she concluded.
Founded in 1938, the National Federation of Republican Women is the largest grassroots Republican women’s organization in the nation. NFRW provides a forum for women to serve as leaders in the political, government, and civic arenas.
