Republican Nominee for U.S. Congress, Pennsylvania's 7th District
A trailblazer in the world of business and a successful reformer in public service, Lisa Scheller embraces both roles with a sense of humanity and purpose.
“Our communities are diverse,” Lisa says. “We have people of every background. But there are values we all share – values that should unite us, not divide us. Those are the values I’ll carry with me to Congress.”
Lisa is the Republican nominee for the 7th Congressional District in Pennsylvania. She was recently named a Young Gun of the National Republican Congressional Committee.
Lisa is the granddaughter of immigrants who founded Silberline Manufacturing Company, one of Lehigh Valley’s premier manufacturers, making a key ingredient in paints and coatings. Following the death of her brother, she took over running the company and currently serves as chairman and president. Silberline Manufacturing is the only certified woman-owned business of its kind in the world.
In 2011, alarmed by a Lehigh County tax increase, Lisa ran on a reform message and was elected to the Lehigh County Board of Commissioners. She successfully led efforts to cut taxes every year. She served as board chair for two years. Lisa gained a reputation as a fiscally conservative fighter, advocating for spending restraint, lower taxes, job creation and an end to special-interest giveaways.
“People in the 7th district have not been well-served by Congress," Lisa says. "They’ve lost faith in government because government has constantly acted in bad faith.” She has identified the problem as a permanent “political class” that thrives on conflict, making legislative progress impossible. As a member of Congress, Lisa has pledged to serve a maximum of four terms in the House and has promised to make certain her rhetoric matches her voting record.
