Supporting our Military through 'Stockings for Heroes'
Lowndes County Republican Women in Columbus, Mississippi, pledged stockings for deployed soldiers through the Soldiers' Angel Program.
Newsletters with suggested items for the stockings were distributed. We utilized our Facebook page and emails to inform our members about this special project. The donations were amazing. We had pledged ten stockings which were filled by members following our November meeting.
The remaining donations were taken to a local nursing home to be distributed to residents, as needed. The stockings were shipped to Soldier’s Angel organization who in turn sent the stockings to deployed soldiers.
This was an incredible experience which I think we will continue next year.
