ORLANDO, Fla. – The California Federation of Republican Women (CFRW) was awarded the highly prized Public Relations Award during the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) 41st Biennial Convention held Sept. 24-26 in Orlando.

The award was presented to Ingrid Lake, president of Bakersfield Republican Women Federated, who stood in for CFRW President Sue Blair during the convention general session on Sept. 25.

"It was an honor to receive the prestigious Public Relations Trophy from the NFRW and for California to be recognized for its innovative and engaging public relations efforts," Blair said.

CFRW's inventive statewide texting campaign, robust social media platforms and diversity outreach efforts were exceptional, NFRW Public Relations Chair Julie Faubel said.

Winners in the national Public Relations Award contest are:

  • First Place and Recipient of the Traveling Golden Eagle Trophy: California Federation of Republican Women
  • Second Place: Arizona Federation of Republican Women
  • Third Place: New Hampshire Federation of Republican Women

Entries from state federations across the country were judged by the NFRW Public Relations Committee on quality and breadth of public and media relations efforts, including: news media, public communications, member communications, social media, and political action/candidate support. In addition to the first, second and third place overall winners, several states were recognized for notable achievements in individual categories.

Founded in 1938, the National Federation of Republican Women is the largest grassroots Republican women’s organization in the country. Building leaders, energizing communities and keeping America strong, NFRW empowers women from all backgrounds in the political process and provides a forum for women to serve as leaders in the political, government, and civic arenas.

The success of the Public Relations program has been due to the vision of the 2020-2021 President of the California Federation of Republican Women, Sue Blair. Sue worked tirelessly to create and implement an incredible combination of website, social media, videos, emails and a texting program to get the word out about CFRW. The officers of CFRW cannot express enough how much we appreciate Sue's drive and direction in helping turn the California Federation into a powerhouse. We all worked hard together, but under the leadership of a brilliant president.
