Club Celebrates 50th by Marching in Apple Blossom Parade
Chelan-Douglas Republican Women's Club in Wenatchee, Washington, participated in the Wenatchee Apple Blossom Festival Grand Parade on May 7. Walking in the parade was part of the club's 50th year anniversary celebration.
Along with pursuing conservative values, the women of the Chelan-Douglas club are very dedicated to support local non-profit organizations. COVID-19 did not slow down efforts to aid fellow citizens.
The women generously donated $732 in office and cleaning supplies to Haven of Hope, a 21-bed homeless shelter for women and children. Checks totaling $700 were presented to Serve Wenatchee, a nonprofit religious charity, for the Clothes for the Classroom project that seeks to completely clothe (shoes, socks, shirts, and pants) 1,000 children for school.
The Seattle USO, Sea-Tac Airport, one of the largest in the country, benefited from the club's collecting personal hygiene items for over 18 months. Dee Drewry, past state president, delivered 3 full boxes of 1,028 items (shampoo, lotions, toothpaste, brushes, soap, shaving items, etc) to be distributed to active-duty military members and families that spend hours and possibly days between flights.
CDRW members have consistently assisted multiple nonprofit agencies in the 2-county region for many years. Their commitment to Caring for America expresses the heart of what Republican women are all about.
