Republican Nominee for U.S. Senate, Connecticut

By Terri Goodnow, West Virginia

Just one day after receiving an endorsement from Donald Trump, Leora Levy in her first election resoundingly won the Connecticut primary for U.S. Senate. In November, Leora will challenge incumbent Senator Richard Blumenthal and all the disastrous Biden policies that Blumenthal so staunchly supports.

Born in Havana, Cuba, Leora is from a family of immigrants. Her mother and grandparents immigrated from Lithuania in 1940. In 1960, three-year-old Levy and her entire family migrated to the United States to escape Fidel Castro's oppressive regime. When reflecting upon her family’s flight to freedom, she said, “We came to America to be free – there is really no other place to go.”

Leora describes herself as an “outsider” to the Hartford political establishment, yet she has extensive experience in the political arena. She has served on the Republican National Committee as Connecticut's National Committeewoman since 2017, and was Finance Chair for the Connecticut Republican Party from 2013-2015. Additionally, she served on the Finance Committee for the National Republican Senatorial Committee and the National Republican Congressional Committee.

With years of grassroots and fundraising experience under her belt, Leora is clear-eyed about what it will take to secure a victory in November, and a key is the independent vote. Leora wants Connecticut voters to recognize the solid conservative values she will bring to the U.S. Senate. Sheis resolutely pro-life. As an immigrant herself, she openly favors a secure border. She agrees freedom-loving people are always welcome legally, but she sees the illegal invasion of our southern border as a continuing security threat for our country. As a mother, Leora recognizes that parents know their children like no school board can. She advocates for parental rights and freedom of choice. She believes in the 2nd Amendment and the right to bear arms.

Her work for veterans is impressive. As director of Soldier Strong, Leora oversaw the organization's mission to provide paralyzed veterans with “exoskeleton suits” that aid in walking and standing. She also actively supported ECAD, an organization that trains and supplies service dogs for veterans, as well as a project that supported the first two MTBI clinics for wounded soldiers at Bagram Air Force Base in Afghanistan.

Endorsements for the Levy campaign include Republican Jewish Coalition, FreedomWorks, View PAC, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, Restore Liberty, and Republican National Hispanic Assembly, as well as prominent Republican leadership in the Congress.

Leora earned a bachelor's in international relations from Brown University. She is Cuban-American, of the Jewish faith, and a member of Federated Republican Women of Southern Connecticut. She and husband, Steven, are the proud parents of two grown sons.
