Club Launches 2023 with Soup & Social
Forsyth County Republican Women's Club member Sarah Absher hosted "Soup & Social" at her home on January 26.
Board members brought chicken soup, chili, hors d'oeuvres, and hot and cold drinks. Attendees enjoyed meeting many new faces at the event. Members were not charged to attend.
In an effort to generate support for a county-wide volunteer school program, Literacy Chair Susan Miller introduced Lisa Jensen, who explained Forsyth County's "Reading Warriors" program. Volunteers first must pass a background check and secure training. The volunteers then go to county public schools and read to children in kindergarten and the first grade.
Several icebreaker games were played so that "old" and "new" members could get to know one another.
