The California Federation of Republican Women (CFRW) hosted its Fall Board Meeting and Conference September 6-7 in Bakersfield.
"Engaging in Politics - Part III" marked the third and last CFRW conference in 2024. The conference was held early this year because of the November presidential election.
The two-day conference started with a private viewing of "Reagan," followed by a special afternoon training session entitled "Deep Dive - Get Out The Vote" by the Leadership Institute. A special reception was held that evening with Ken Khachagian, who has worked for nine U.S. presidents. He was a speechwriter for President Nixon and President Reagan.
On the second day, after business was conducted at the CFRW Board of Directors Meeting, attendees heard from the vice chairman of the California GOP, Corrin Rankin, and the District Attorney for Kern County, Cynthia Zimmer, who specializes in crime in California. Other speakers included former Assemblywoman Suzette Valladares, who is currently running for the California senate, and Susan Shelley, one of the top conservative columnists in California, who discussed the persecution of Donald Trump.
California's members of the National Republican Congressional Committee's Young Guns were featured in the afternoon. They are Scott Baugh, 47th CD; Matt Gunderson, 49th CD; and, Kevin Lincoln, 9th CD. Congressman Mike Garcia, a former Young Gun himself, wrapped up this session. The group then heard from California's State Director for Team Trump, Brian Anguiano, who trained our members on Trump Force 47. Congressman Vince Fong updated our members on the happenings in Washington, D.C.
CFRW was happy to recommit to supporting the Keep Nine Amendment to the U.S. Constitution by passing its second resolution on the topic in the last few years. Tom Del Becarro, a CFRW favorite, spoke at the Saturday night banquet. Tom is a former California GOP chairman, as well as an author, commentator and podcast host.
All three CFRW board meetings and conferences in 2024 have been educational and engaging. We are looking forward to a Trump victory in November.
