WWII D-Day, June 6th

On D-Day, Allied forces consisted primarily of American, British and Canadian troops but also included Australian, Belgian, Czech, Dutch, French, Greek, New Zealander, Norwegian, Rhodesian and Polish naval, air or ground support. The troops landed at five beaches around Normandy, France, code-named Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword. The main body consisted of 156,115 U.S., British and Canadian troops, 6,939 ships and landing vessels, and 2,395 aircraft and 867 gliders that delivered airborne troops. It was the largest naval, air, and land military operation in history.

Inhabitants from the Caribbean have shaped our culture in arts, sports, business, journalism, government, and the military.  Caribbeans from the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico are U.S. citizens; many have joined our military throughout the years, as have immigrants from other Caribbean countries.

Armed Forces Day is May 21st

Armed Forces Day is the proper day to honor all of the men and women currently serving as well as those who have served and sacrificed to defend our freedom.  It recognizes the men and women serving in the Active, Reserve, and National Guard components of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard and Space Force.
