Affirmative Action was reasonable when it began and served a genuine purpose. However, it is time for all racial preferences to end. We were well on our way to becoming a color-blind society, but did an abrupt U-turn 1.5 decades ago. More and more students homeschool in Texas. Homeschoolers vote Republican. Yet Texas law does not allow for “automatic admissions” process for homeschooled students. This denies Texas taxpayers and a GOP voting base equal access to Taxpayer funded colleges. The automatic admission law should allow homeschooled students automatic admission based on ACT or SAT rank. Why is a red state de prioritizing the children of Republican voters who homeschool and giving favored admission to students that meet leftist categorizing and values?

If the TEXAS GOP is worried about the liberalizing of colleges and college students, they must move to equal protection for students that are homeschooled. Homeschooled students should be given an “automatic admission” pathway that avoids liberal colleges from discriminating. Also Texas homeschooled students should have a college scholarship pathway. We are taxpayers too and our students are pushed to the bottom of the stack for our taxpayer funded colleges and scholarships. Standardized tests ought to be a tool to allow automatic admission and top ten percent scholarship eligibility for homeschooled students.
