No, because most of the citizens appointed to these oversight committees do not have any law enforcement experience or knowledge of such.

Although most people do not have a background in law enforcement or accounting, there are sane people who do know the difference between what’s right and what’s wrong. An oversight committee of citizens should not be for telling them how to DO their job, but more of a guidance body to offer support and encouragement when warranted and constructive criticism when needed.

I do support citizen input to our law enforcement. I praise all our law enforcement but they're working their full time/part-time jobs and may not have a chance to receive community input from citizens they serve. KUDOS TO ALL OUR LAW ENFORCEMENT 👏!!

Citizen input is important - that's why traditionally we have Ombudsmen in place. As Elisha Goodger wrote, most of us do not have a law enforcement background. A board of citizens working under the guidance of perhaps a retired office would go a long way to balance the scales. We fortunately live in a military community so our issues are not those of BLUE cities ... in those environments oversight is a MUST

Yes, because the Sheriff's model is closest to the Constitution. In this case the sheriff is elected by the people and works for the people so they should have oversight over all law nforcement.

Law enforcement of any kind needs to be held accountable for their actions just as much as criminals. We cannot always trust government officials, who are often corrupt.

I voted no because because there are agencies already in place to monitor law enforcement. Police departments have Internal Affairs branches to investigate cop crime and misconduct. The FBI can investigate complaints at all levels -local, state, and federal government. Also councils who dole out the funding already have too much control as it is. Why make it worse?
