DrCCJones, NFRW Capitol Regent: Given voting for the proposed "first taxpayers' religious institution establishment", the consideration is one of taxpayers' public monies moved into religious private institution coverage payments - the established taxpayers' dollars cover all public issues inclusive of public schoolings - my stance is one of taxpayer's wishing to select "private schooling/institutional would be re: taxpayers paying their private monies for selected wishes

My concern is this may well open one more avenue for a government agency to impose restrictions, on the private education system in this country. I would rather see an income deduction for the tuition to private schools. That eliminates parents having to pay for their children as well as supporting public schools which they do not choose. This would also send a message to the public schools they need cannot dominate the education of our children.

I generally see this as good. I'd prefer to see schools along the Hillsdale College template rather than religious...

My only problem with religion is this will open the door to Muslims opening their own schools and I think they should integrate as much as possible into the mainstream population . Having traveled to the middle east, I am not an advocate of how women are treated in those countries.

The parent has the right to determine which schools are best for their children. Whether that's public school, a private secular school, a religious-based school, homeschooling, or "other," the education money should follow the child to whichever school the parents choose. However, as a previous post points out, care must be taken to ensure that the federal government doesn't then construe that they may dictate policies to private schools because of said funding.

I do not agree with a taxpayer paid private or religious school. This opens the door for more government interference in children's education. I do, however, support providing tax credits to parents who elect to put their children in private schools and leave education decisions up to parents.

Governor Stitt’s heart is in the right place, wanting to give families more schooling choices. However, what happens when the Wiccans want to open a school? Tuition waivers or tax deductions for private schools, especially in areas where public schools have a “C,” “D” or “F” grade seems like a better idea.
