Not sure that Congress will provide what is needed for border security. Expect that the President is prepared to act as needed to make it happen, and that we who voted for him will approve.

Pelosi and Democrats are masters, with help from media, of making the walk seem unreasonable.

Make an analytical cost based argument of the cost of border protection against the savings of more resources to watch out for heroin, etc. And be able to defend it with numbers. Stop the emotional “gang members and bad people” argument. It is ineffective and realistically, most illegals aren’t. Most just want work.

The democrats are devoted to resisting anything the Trump administration proposes, and this not about to change UNLESS Nancy P is voted out of the speakership.. Once that happens, the House will be easier to negotiate with.

Living in a border state, it is always interesting to me that people who do not live in a border state seem to always know what is best for us. They should come to New Mexico and visit the Bootheel, the most recent illegal border crossing "find" in New Mexico.

The Wall can be built by using EXISTING laws on our books, WITHOUT President Trump declaring a national emergency. If Trump declares a national emergency, it will immediately be stopped by liberal judges. President Trump should use existing law in our Department of Defense, which allows our Secretary of Defense to construct roads and fences along our border to STOP drugs and drug smugglers from entering the United States. This is found under Title 10, Section 284 of our United States Code. This is already codified LAW and Trump can use it immediately to start construction on the Wall. The Democrats CANNOT stop this - they can only try to change this existing law. Please call your Republican U.S. Senators and Congressmen soon - and ask them to support our President and our Department of Defense, Title 10 Section 284, which would allow our Secretary of Defense to immediately start construction of the Wall on our southern border - a law made to stop drugs and drug traffickers from coming across our border. It would NOT be necessary for President Trump to declare a state of emergency to begin new construction of his Wall.

It is my opinion that the House will be deadlocked on the wall issue and that President Trump will be forced to formally declare a state of emergency at our southern border.

I don't know if border funding will go through in the next few weeks, but I know there is a much greater chance of border barrier funding if all members of NFRW-affiliated clubs call, write, and tweet constantly to their Senators and Representatives and urge them to persuade their fellow Senators and Representatives to fund at least $5.7 billion for the border wall and to fund the other proposals for border security. Also, call and tweet constantly to all Senators and Representatives, especially Democrats - No matter that Nancy Pelosi thinks border barriers don't work. Border Patrol agents say they do, & they should know. Border walls work in Israel & in U.S. where they are built, like San Diego/Tiahuana, in Pelosi's state. Ask Dem. Senators what they value more - saving Americans lives or keeping Pelosi in power? Like Pelosi, drug lords and some big employers oppose border barriers. Are they paying politicians to oppose border barriers?

The Democrats have already said they will not negotiate for a wall. I believe Trump will get the wall but he will have to declare a National Emergency. He did what needed to be done, but we all knew the Democrats would not live up to what they said!

I believe Pelosi has decided she is in control and the more she can keep the President from achieving his goals the greater are their chances of defeating him in 2020. I do not anticipate any cooperation from her on any major issue.

Am pleased to know that Leslie Key is aware of existing law in our Department of Defense, U.S. Code Title 10, Section 284 which would allow our Secretary of Defense to immediately start construction of the wall on our border. President Trump has given the Demos and some Republicans enough latitude. He needs to get ready on Feb. 16 to use Defense Funds to put up the wall immediately.

I'm an American citizen of many generations, a new widow, I lost benefits and can't get benefits yet those coming into America have more rights than me. They are reducing us to a 3rd world country, reducing our standard of living as Americans with drugs, slavery, prostitution, crime, anti-christian, voting without rights, raping our medical benefits. I'm thankful for the President we have, now he needs to get really tuff. Show the speaker who is really the boss. Send our military to the border and show the world and the aliens who is in control of our destiny. Send the house and senate home until they are willing to go to Washington to represent the people and not the parties. Just Do It, Mr. President.

Since she lives in a border state, I would have liked to have heard her opinion on the wall, but she did not include that in her reply.

However, I must add that it isn't only border states that are affected by illegal immigration. In Virginia, we have a very large population of illegal immigrants (along with many legal ones, as well). We also have a propblem with MS13 in my part of the state. On top of that, we have seen many deaths as a result of the heroin and illegal fentanyl smuggled across the border. In addition, all of us absorb part of the $117 billion per year that illegal immigrants cost the taxpayers.

Illegal immigration affects every one of us, not just those who live in states that border Mexico.
