Far more important is to temporarily suspend flights coming to the US FROM China, or specifically, from certain parts of China. If Americans want to risk going to China with the knowledge that they may contract a deadly disease, who are we to stop them? However,

they should be made aware that their return trip is in question. There are "quarantined areas" in China from which a temporary travel ban is perfectly justifiable due to the seriousness of this disease. We do not know how well the quarantine is enforced, and we cannot trust the Chinese government to be accurate in their reports of the number of fatalities.

That said, It is important to keep some perspective. The flu is far more deadly. However, since patients have the option to be vaccinated against the flu, but no vaccine exists for the coronovirus, I believe a short-term suspension of flights originating in the most afflicted area is not unreasonable. With time, the ban should be lifted or extended to larger areas, depending upon what we learn in the days to come.

Why are we going to quarantine people on military bases? That will put our military and their families that live on post at risk. Will our tax dollars cover having these people monitored on a daily basis, pay for their food while they are housed on post, pay for cleaning and sanitizing the barracks, etc. when they leave?
